God bless you,
In todays writing I’ll be talking Proverbs 3:5-8 as the foundation for the study. The first sentence of verse 5 says; “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; vs.6 in all your ways submit to him, and He will make your paths straight. 7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. 8 This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.
It is in our human nature that sometimes we choose to trust in our own understanding, knowledge this due the free will God gave us to choose between the wrong and the right. Now when you come to Jesus, you are practically saying I’m leaving my habits, my human nature and I’m excepting this new way of thinking. For example if you thought “borrowing” money of someone without asking and without paying and giving it back.. this is in fact stealing. Now the bible says in the
10 commandments that you shall not steal from one and other.
(Ex. 20:15) That is why the ways we used to think must be transformed.
Today the bible is telling me/you that we should not lean on our own understand, that we must trust the Lord. That we must submit all our ways to God and He will direct our paths. Fear God and shun evil, for this is good for your health and it will nourishment to your body. This must be the new way of thinking.
Jeremiah 17:5-8 puts it this way:
5 This is what the Lord says:
“Cursed is the one who trusts in man,
who draws strength from mere flesh
and whose heart turns away from the Lord.
6 That person will be like a bush in the wastelands;
they will not see prosperity when it comes.
They will dwell in the parched places of the desert,
in a salt land where no one lives.
7 “But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord,
whose confidence is in him.
8 They will be like a tree planted by the water
that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes;
its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought
and never fails to bear fruit.”
With loving regards,
